The Upward Bound Scholarship Endowment Fund was established in 1988 and has grown over the years as a result of the vision, gratitude, and commitment of Upward Bound alumni, students, staff, and friends of the program. The Scholarship Committee, comprised of a core group of prominent Upward Bound alumni, announces and administers the annual application process. Typically, three scholarships are awarded ($2000, $1000, and $500) each year during the Upward Bound commencement ceremony, and beginning in 2008, the Scholarship Committee announced book awards would be granted in the name of John Nazarian, Eighth President of Rhode Island College.
To date, the Scholarship Fund has supported more than $55,000 in scholarship assistance to forty-seven graduates over the past twenty years. These recipients have achieved great success in postsecondary education, and several have earned advanced degrees in law, medicine, education, and business.

It is very rare when individuals have an opportunity to directly affect the lives of others, but that is exactly what you will accomplish through your support. Upward Bound graduating seniors need the additional support from these scholarships to meet the ever-increasing costs associated with their higher education.
