Dr. Gary M. Penfield has served as Vice President for Student Affairs since 1979. Dr. Penfield moved to Rhode Island from Ohio in 1976 to assume the position of Dean of Students at Rhode Island College. Prior to joining the Rhode Island College staff, Dr. Penfield served as Dean of Student Groups and University Programs at the University of Cincinnati. After earning his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the State University of New York at Albany, Dr. Penfield completed his Doctorate at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Penfield has fulfilled a variety of responsibilities with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. He served on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Red Cross from 1991-2002, including two years as Chairman of the Board. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Providence Performing Arts Center.
