Welcome from President Nancy Carriuolo
Welcome to the newly designed Rhode Island College (RIC) Web site, where you will find the most up-to-date information about the college quickly, easily and colorfully. The new Web site was designed with you – our potential and current students, our dedicated faculty and staff, our proud alumni, and our valuable supporters and patrons – in mind. Our intention is to showcase our rich and diverse campus, our devoted faculty and staff, exceptional opportunities for service and research, access to the latest informational and learning technology, outstanding athletic teams, and vibrant campus life.
We believe that the new Web site captures the essence and spirit of the college and will entice all who visit the site to take a virtual tour of the campus.
Please note that this Web site was designed completely in-house, as a collaborative effort between the talented designers and web specialists in the college’s Web Communications and News and Public Relations departments.
On the site, you will also see an icon linking you to What’s News @ Rhode Island College, where all the latest news and feature stories are just a click away.
RIC was established in 1854 as one of the first public normal schools in the nation. In 1920, the college became a college of education, and in 1960, it evolved into the master’s level comprehensive college of today.
Throughout its long history, RIC has always put students first.
Our institution has maintained the highest standards in academic programs while retaining a commitment to affordability and accessibility, thereby extending the opportunity to pursue a higher education degree to generations of students, many of whom are leaders in our state, region, and nation.
RIC enrolls approximately 9,000 students in a wide spectrum of academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. RIC has received longstanding acclaim for its performing and fine arts series, and for its quality teacher preparation. The college’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Center and Schools of Nursing, Social Work, and Management also offer exciting programs. Please visit the school sites and browse a bit.
I hope you will have an opportunity to plan a personal visit to our campus so that you may discover what makes Rhode Island College such a very special place. Until then, I thank you for visiting the college on the World Wide Web.
Sincerely,
Nancy Carriuolo
President
