Jephte Wagnac Earns All-NEICAAA
 Honors in 400m Hurdles

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Rhode Island College freshman Jephte Wagnac (Providence, RI) notched a fifth-place finish in the 400m hurdles (53.99) to earn All-NEICAAA honors as the men’s track and field team competed at the 2017 New England Open Track & Field Championships, hosted by Williams College on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13. The event featured competitors from Div. I, II and III institutions.

RIC tied for 29th place (37 teams) at the meet with 4.0 points, while the University of Rhode Island took home the team title with 163.0 points.

Wagnac, the team’s MVP and Little East Conference Rookie Field Athlete of the Year, was one of only two Div. III student-athletes to finish in the top eight in the 400m hurdles. He placed fifth in the preliminaries of that event with a time of 53.10. Wagnac is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation in the 400m hurdles with one meet left in the regular season.

Junior Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) placed 13th in the hammer (50.97m), while classmate Vincent Santos (Narragansett, RI) had a 22nd place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.58).
