Karen Surman Paley

Karen Surman Paley is Assistant Professor of English at Rhode Island College. She published the book I-Writing: The Politics and Practice of Teaching First-Person Writing with So. Illinois UP in 2001. Her essays have also appeared in the Journal of Advanced Composition, Reader, College English, and Assessing Writing. Hired as a composition/rhetoric specialist, her special topic courses in the Holocaust and in Gay and Lesbian Literature are very popular. After raising two sons, Paley earned her doctorate in English at Northeastern Univerity in Boston in 1998.

J. Zornado

J. Zornado is an Associate Professor of English at Rhode Island College. He published his first book Inventing the Child: Culture, Ideology and Story of Childhood, with Garland/Routledge in 2001. His essays and reviews have appeared in such journals as Children's Literature Quarterly, Religion and Literature, and MELUS. He is currently working to publish his first novel. He teaches a wide range of courses, including Children's Literature, American Literature, and topics in children's culture. He lives in Connecticut where he and his wife home school their three children.

Carol Shelton

Carol Shelton is a Professor of Nursing at RI College. She holds a BS Salve Regina College, an MS from the University of Minnesota and a PhD Brandeis University. Her fields of study include public health nursing, health policy, specifically health policy around issues of maternal and child health, advocacy in women’s health and teaching courses in motherhood, childbirth and women’s studies.

Timothy Chambers

Timothy Chambers researches topics in philosophy; he's authored articles on time travel, various mathematical paradoxes, and the theological Problem of Evil.
