Introduction To The First Volume
Welcome to the first installment of Issues in Teaching and Learning, an on-line publication, funded with support from the Faculty Development Fund. The publication features articles by RIC faculty, students and staff examining issues and innovations in teaching and learning on campus. The mission of the journal is to create and deepen dialogue among the faculty and others about teaching and learning and to create a forum for productive inter-disciplinary conversations about the art and practice of teaching.
The first issue includes articles on civil liberties on college campuses (Weisman), the city as a classroom (Corey and Motte), working with students as researchers and co-authors (Clark, Gurka and Middleton), writing cultures across disciplines (Roemer), technology and teaching (Church), assistive technology (Dalton), review and assessment of general education (Fluehr-Lobban), development of measures to predict student success in college (Rollins et al), the development of students as writing tutors (Carroll), and plagiarism and student writing (Brennan).
