The English Club is for English majors and minors in any curriculum (liberal arts, creative writing concentrations, secondary education, or elementary education) was revived during the spring of 2007 and became an official RIC student organization in October of the same year. The English Club has sponsored many events, including sessions on applying to graduate school, writing workshops, film discussions, a book club, talks & readings by professors, and parties. We also work closely with the school literary magazine Shoreline. Joint meetings are being scheduled.
This semester the English Club will continue to explore different genres with our featured events. These events will consist of discussions during the free period every other Wednesday, evening presentations from 7:00 until 9:00 which will explore the genre in film. Light refreshments will be provided.
Wednesday, October 17th - Dr. Richard Feldstein will lead our exploration of Existentialism via the film Waking Life.
We are also organizing small, productive writing workshops to offer feedback to those who are creative writers. Dates TBA.
