We’ll work, step-by-step, through the grant-seeking and application process using real opportunities and examples. With effort, you can have critical elements of your next grant application in hand by the end of the course. You will learn the basics of proposal development and grant writing as a form of program and organizational planning. It will focus on how to read an RFP, how to develop a program concept for grant funding, how to construct the elements of a basic grant including Project Summary, Problem Statement or Needs Assessment, Objectives, Methods/Action Plan, Budget and Budget Narrative, Evaluation, and Supporting Documents.

This usually leads to getting more of what you want and less of what you don’t want! In this active learning environment we will practice dealing with “real-life” situations; we will discuss and role-play the difficult examples you share from work or home. We will learn specific communication techniques which will help you to be more clear, direct and honest in your relationships, and take more responsibility for the choices that you make. In this non-threatening and fun class, learn the key communication strategies that you can use everyday.

The Centralized Pay Summary Report and copy of your online registration confirmation number must be mailed or faxed to the address/number below to reserve a seat in any course:
- The Centralized Pay Summary Report showing the invoice number to be referenced for final payment
- A printed copy of your registration confirmation number provided after submission of your online registration is completed. While completing the online registration please select the "Third Party Payment" check box option and be sure to fill out all required fields.

For state employees interested in incentive credit, all rules regarding each employee's eligibility will apply. For example, the course must be "directly related to the employee s job duties" and be the appropriate level for those duties. CS-365 forms requesting incentive approval must be received by OTD 7 days prior to the start of the course. Each course must be at least 15 hours. If you do not receive verification from OTD that your incentive credit request has been approved, it is your responsibility to check the status of your request, and insure that OTD receives it.
