A college experience for Providence High School seniors

PPSD student with Accelerate logo

Rhode Island College is excited to partner with the Providence Public School District, the Rhode Island Department of Education, CCRI and the College Crusade of Rhode Island on Accelerate, a college experience for Providence high school seniors. Accelerate at RIC is a bold new approach to engage students in an early college experience through virtual enrollment at Rhode Island College that will accelerate the path to a college degree.

Students will fulfill high school graduation requirements and earn college credit in one of two exciting pathways: Pathway to Honors and Excellence in College for English Learners (ExCEL); all while receiving advising and faculty support, peer mentoring, career development and major exploration as well as co-curricular programming.

College Crusade will provide direct support to students and ensure a successful transition to this postsecondary education experience.

Rhode Island College will offer qualified PPSD Seniors a virtual Alternative Senior Year where students will fulfill high school graduation requirements and earn college credit at no cost to the student or their family and will include Co-Curricular Programming, Wrap-Around Supports for Student Success, and a Cohort Model for Peer Learning and Support.
